For the first time, I’m trying proper seed saving. Having first checked that it isn’t a hybrid variety, which wouldn’t work, I let a Marketmore cucumber grow to the point where it was pale and very soft on the plant.

Scooping the seeds out was very easy and from then on it was just a case of leaving them in a jar of water. The good seeds stay at the bottom and the bad ones float.
After a few days and a few changes of water, the good seeds are now drying on a windowsill. Above, I’ve shown them with a cucumber from the very same plant, reminding the seeds of what I expect from them next year!
