This straggly mess is actually some carefully raised seedlings of some varieties which I’m growing for the first time. The most interesting to me is the Giant Red Celery in the two pots on the left. All those stems should develop from the spindly things they are now into big, sturdy and red stalks of crisp celery. I hope so anyway.
Alongside are coriander, purple basil and Toscana strawberries, which I’ve opted to grow from seed rather than starting with a pre-grown plant. That makes for a long season before any strawberries appear, but supplier Mr. Fothergill’s promise that they’re big and tasty. And as an F1 hybrid they should grow well.
